CNN BREAKING - Within two hours of announcing its "early bird" Black Friday discount for the eagerly awaited volume of photos and poetry from CaliforniaPeggy, Amazon reported sales of over 500,000 copies.
Amazon CEO JEff Bezos told CNN "I've never seen anything like it. The book retails for $49.95 for the signed and numbered limited edition, and we offered it for $49.90, and BLAM...two hours later we'd sold half a million copies."
Experts say that any discount offered on "Black Friday" is bound to draw attention, but the CaliforniaPeggy book is in such high demand that offering it five days early (in advance of its originally planned advance order date November 30th) resulted in the surge of buyers.
Renowned poet Maya Angelou is one of the few to have seen advance copies of the book, "F-Stops & F-Bombs." She has called it "the single most important literary work in the 21st century. I can't imagine myself attempting to write poetry again after reading this humbling volume."
