4. Ever see "Airplane" or "Naked Gun"?
He was one of the stars of both. He was an amazingly funny guy.

10. Nielson, Lloyd Bridges, Robert Stack...all serious actors...
are what made the movie "Airplane" so damned funny. I had never seen any of the three before do comedy, and they did it amazingly well. Peter Graves, too.

I will miss Leslie Nielson. He provided me with a lot of great entertainment, both serious and funny.

11. An airline pilot I know had Leslie Nielsen on a flight once.
Said he was funny -- he quoted "Airplane" as as he boarded. "We're all counting on you..."

19. He was
During an interview he was asked about the difference between acting in the theater vs. films. His apply --

Film actors gossip about who's sleeping with who; stage, who's sleeping with whom.

20.  Yes, well

"When I see five weirdos dressed in togas stabbing a guy in the middle of the park in plain view of a hundred people, I shoot the bastards, that's my policy.

That was a Shakespeare in the Park production of Julius Caesar, you moron! You killed five actors! Good ones!"

RIP Leslie, thanks for all the laughs

21. I met him very briefly in '85 ot '86
he was in Pittsburgh (actually Monroeville which is an eastern suburb) for some reason. I was hanging out at this nite spot that featured several backgammon tables (backgammon was kind of the in thing back then). He was there, escorted by a very attractive young woman. She asked me if I would play a game with Mr. Nielsen and of course I accepted. Halfway through, he got bored and asked his escort if she would finish the game. Which was fine with me because I was far more interested in getting to know her.

And that was my one and only brush with the rich and famous.
