My new therapist always answers her phone.
If she doesn't answer in the office, she will likely answer on her cell.If you leave a voice mail, she calls back in less than three minutes. 24/7/365. I like her already.

2. My dear Roon...
She sounds terrific!

I hope she is really good for you in other ways too. A good therapist can really save your life. I know...

I've been there.

3. is she a newbie? Most therapists need to have some boundaries...

:D As an old mental health hand, I think the new folks don't realize that they need to have lives... JMO.

5. She's a newbie and all her patients are people with aids
who have addiction issues. That really narrows down her caseload I would assume.

They don't want us getting all messed up on drugs and having dangerous sex, so we get good mental health care.

11. ah, I see - it's just that therapists who are always available tend to burn out
more quickly and it can create unrealistic expectations (and dependence) in clients. JMO

Good for her for working in the field, though, there is certainly a strong need.

4. You may like her less
if she is answering calls during your sessions.

9. Advice to bystanders:
Let Roon and the therapist work this out. No one has all the info on this and though I appreciate you sharing this with the folks here, Roon, and understand that the opinions expressed are valid opinions, there are many possibilities as to what's going on and the one thing I DO know is that an important part of treatment is feeling what one feels and talking about it with the therapist herself.

Good luck; I'm glad you're glad.

14. Beware of poor boundaries
We've had an experience with a therapist who had poor boundaries and ended up seeing two people in my family who were in conflict with each other. The result, neither see the therapist, both feel alienated by her, she created a hornets nest of chaos about things, and she slandered me and other members of the family in the process. When I complained to her manager about her boundary violations the story was that I was "out of control" and angry and would not be welcome in the building.

Just sayin'

oh and no one is better for this experience... one ran away, the other is without a therapist and is hurt and rejected by her and doesn't want to see another one. For the least matter I am angry at the way she did all of this. As a therapist with a lot more experience than her I watched her make mistakes and yet as a family member in the middle I was frozen somehow.
