Susan BOYLE just broke off mid-song on The View. Frog in the throat.
She was swimming along "O Holy Night." When she stopped singing, she was waving-hushing/patting-down the background music to stop. Whoopee and Sheree jumped onstage and did their best to alleviate any embarrassment. They did some shit-happens type of comments and questions, but she's a tough interview, monosyballic...

She's unscripted. You never know what's going to happen with her.

1. I guess we should know that by now with Susan Boyle.
She sings like an angel, but she is fragile.

2. I wonder if she can ever come to grips with her fame?
She truly sings beautifully and she was so brave when she first tried out - but the whirlwind of attention would cripple anyone. Look at childhood stars or anyone who has had years of fame - few go from a nobody to worldwide recognition literally overnight like she did.

I mean people who the lottery only get a little local fame (and tons of calls from long lost family and friends) and when interviewed later often find that the sudden wealth has made their lives worse.

Sometimes I guess having your dream come true can be worse for some.

4. I don't think that having her dream come true is the worst for her

I remember feeling really upset when people would say that the best thing for Susan was to go back to her empty house and her cat. She had a lonely life with no real purpose after her mother died. Now she has plans, things to do, places to go. The sudden fame made her stumble for a while; she could have walked away from it all there, but she didn't. She persevered and went fully for the carreer she dreamed about all her life. Is it all fun and perfection all of the time? no, of course not. But that's life. And that's what she chose. Life, to LIVE it with its ups and downs.

Good for her!

3. Corrections to typo "-syllabic" and not-knowing "Whoopi, Sherri" and grateful

that nobody posted interpretations that I was mocking BOYLE. Her talent is breathtaking (one word or hyphenated?!1) and I love her unvarnished persona. I don't have *any* fondness for the KARDASHIANs or other slick products out there. But there have been a couple of gossip bits about La BOYLE screaming at people.

There is a comparable personality, a Mexican singer named Paquita la del Barrio, who doesn't fit stereotypes of being a "star"---is obese (by the definition), is bad at interviews, just has a voice and gets up and sings then leaves, everything by rote and no sponteneity, and got herself in trouble for a politically incorrect or or perhaps rustically regressive opinion due to her age and background (said she believes Gays adopting is wrong, or more, that being Gay is an aberration). When she got lambasted, it was pitiful to see her crying and a nervous pile and saying she didn't mean to hurt anybody. Possibly, her sales took a serious hit, giving her an instant upgrade in consciousness.

On Edit: Whoa, in looking for a pic of La Del Barrio, what she actually said was even worse than I remembered. She said that she would prefer to let a child starve to death than to be adopted by Gays. And it looks like graphics/images are being locked more and more.

Watch Susan Boyle's Disastrous Performance on The View

Today, Susan Boyle performed "O Holy Night" on The View. About 30 seconds into the performance, Boyle's voice cracked so badly that she was forced to cut it short, before Sherri Shepherd and Whoopi Goldberg awkwardly danced around the debacle.

Update: Holy shit, can we talk about this a bit more? As many commenters have pointed out, there are some things in the video besides SuBo's performance that need mention, including:

* Goldberg looking like the Grim Reaper in a graveyard as she walks across the stage (1:15 mark), and

* a phantom belch (1:40 mark).

If you notice any other noteworthy moments, leave a comment and I'll add to the list.

Second Update: Someone on Twitter alerted me to this YouTube video on The View's official channel, which features a different (and full!) performance by Boyle of the same song—which suggests that she was allowed to re-record it at some point. Yay for second chances? Watch below:

6. What a bizarre and terrible article.
The plea for people to alert them to even more "strange" things was a good indicator of how they're trying to whip something up. The woman had a problem for some reason. I'm astounded it doesn't happen more often. I hate to say it but in part I think people still don't buy that she's a wonderfully talented singer because she isn't a gorgeous diva-esque mannequin, but a human who hasn't been groomed to be a non-person.

That "Whoopi crossing the stage like the grim reaper" remark was more of the same. She's trying to see the step through the fog, fer Chrissake.

This kind of pot-stirring gives me the epizootic.
(Not a slam at you, UTUSN; it's an interesting post)

7. That's a bitch of a tune to pull off because of the range.
She sounded like she didn't have enough breath support to get through the tune.

I've raked her over the coals in the past, but she does have a good voice. I just wish that she hadn't been anointed as a superstar before paying her dues.

Voice lessons from some pros could help immensely.
