My cat was just sitting on my desk. All of a sudden he puts her claws into my hand which was on the

mouse. I stood up and yelled. He ran away. What is up with that? Does anyone else's pet ever physically try and stop them from doing stuff? Mine seems to be in the habit of bossing me around. He wasn't fixed until he was two years old so he has some alpha cat dominance issue. I'm usually a cream puff till he draws blood.

1. Hard to figure out a cat's intent

I have one that puts his paw on me gently then slowly sticks his claws in me. I don't think he is trying to hurt me or dominate me. Kittens use a kneading motion to get milk out of their mothers and cats continue to use that motion when they are content.

Perhaps your cat was just kneading your hand and stuck his claws in too deeply?

2. my puppy has been a little too rough

to let in the same room with my grandbaby so we have been keeping her in the kitchen area with a baby gate. The puppy, not the grandbaby.

When I go to leave the kitchen my puppy grabs my leg with her two front legs and tries to hold onto me to keep me in the same room with her.

Seriously. My cat Sophie KNOWS very well that claws hurt me, but if she really wants my attention she has learned that poking or pulling at me with those claws is a fail-safe attention getter..and in her book..negative attention or yelling is STILL attention..:eyes:

she "cheek rubs" my speakers and empty bottle of pop and nudges them off the edge of the desk.Then I will yell at her and she'll start purring.

4. Yes my cat is an attention seeker

On top of throwing anything she can find off of any flat surface near me she has taken to hanging her neck over blunt surfaces and starts coughing and choking herself. If I don't allow her to be on my lap starting about 6:00 pm at night she starts her ritual. :eyes: I love my cats so I'm ok with it.

I can't say that I am happy with her neurotic need to make me love her "now" but I do adore her more than I can say. It's the newest tactic in "I am your boss and I'll prove it."

But her newest infatuation is playing with my bedside lamp when I am in bed either reading or on my laptop. She will rub her head up against the shade til the damn lamp falls off the table.

10. They all do it. Well my old one, over 20, doesn't do it anymore.

But the kitten, now full size, 6 months old, does it all the time. Attack/play. All the time. When I go in the bathroom, she hides outside the door, and when I come out: attack!
Sometimes with gentle paws on the legs, sometimes with full claws.
It's a game for them.
