i'm going to new york city. what should i do there?

i'm taking a trip, i want to make the most of it. i will be staying in a hostel, and getting around by foot and subway.

my plans right now include:

-the museums
-the empire state building
-a yankees game (as much as i hate them.....)
-pizza
-nathan's hot dogs

what else should i do in my three or so days. DUers?

My favorite part about the city was the possibility of anonymity within the crowd. Everyone doing their thing, and no one overly concerned with what anyone else's thing might be, as long as it doesn't get any on them. What a brilliant system!

10. Just Spend a Lot of Time Walking the Neighborhoods

Greenwich Village, Little Italy, Chinatown, lower east side, upper west side, Wall St, the garment district, wherever. The city changes every few blocks and it never gets old, at least for me. Beats most of the tourist activites, and you're sure to see things you didn't expect that are unique to your visit.

Central Park is good. If you like commercial areas, the stores just south of Central Park on 5th Ave are interesting (FAO Schwartz Toys, Steuben Glass, etc). The UN is worth checking out.
