1. Typical of Postlethwaite is that (spoiler)
at the end of the movie we never even know if the character existed, much less his name. :)

He was a skilled actor at playing understated, vanishing characters who played their part perfectly while on screen but didn't distract when they were off screen. So sad to see him go so young. He really was one of my favorites.

I hate the term "character actor" because it implies that someone played the same role all the time or that they were somehow not skilled enough to be the lead, but as far as the term goes, Postlethwaite and Vincent Schiaveli were probably my favorites. Both are gone too soon.
