I'd buy an RV and travel.

1. Probably travel around the world, retire in London.
Edited on Tue Jan-04-11 08:05 PM by TheMightyFavog
A nice modest flat in Islington or St. John's Wood. Perhaps enter as a silent partner in a few small businesses like a game shop or something. Maybe invite my college friends over a few times a year...

Now that I think about it, I probably would have to travel quite a bit to keep "long lost rleatives" and scammers off my back.

2. Buy a chunk of desert and play very loud gutars until I die.
You're all invited, of course.

6. Fish around the world
I would like to actively pursue the world record for catching the most species. My wife wants to see nature all over the world. Our interests converge. Man, that would be fun.

7. First, I'd get it all in 100's and roll around naked in it for awhile.
Edited on Tue Jan-04-11 10:14 PM by Lucian
Then I'd travel the world and see everything that needs to be seen, then buy a place in France, Italy, Greece, or Ireland and rest. With that kind of money, why finish school and work?

9. I've thought about this.
I'd buy a few high-rise condos in different cities (NYC, DC, South Beach, some VT ski-resort), a estate-house near my parents; hire a driver, a personal trainer, a vegan nutritionist/chef and a bodyguard to travel with me. Pay off my parent's mortgage, buy my brothers each a house. One fancy car, maybe an Aston Martin to be driven in.

Hire a wealth & investment manager (actually I already have him, because I'm a banker and that's how we roll; his name is Steve. If you're in the DC area and need a WIM person, I'd recommend him.) and buy a diverse portfolio currently heavy on developed property.

Start and fun a foundation to fund my strategic initiatives and important issues and causes. That'd be my day-to-day P/T flex-gig...I never want to retire.

12. Firstly, I'll hire a financial advisor who is highly recommended by
a very trusted friend or colleague. Then, I'll give a three or four weeks notice where I work (I'm in management so I don't want to leave my company in a jam). Then, I'll buy a condo for my brother, sister, son, and two nephews (we're all into simple living and I don't think anyone will want a house). Further, I'll make sure my close and wonderful friends who have stood by me through thick and thin are taken care of (possibly working for/with me). After that, I'll get three condos for myself in Southern CA., Northern CA., and in Europe. I'll open a socially conscious company and hire a lot of the wonderful folks I now work (along with the friends I mentioned above) while ensuring they receive excellent salaries and awesome perks. Of course I'll donate money to causes that are close to my heart. Also, I'll travel and attend seminars often regarding self-growth and spirituality. Hey, I've given this A LOT of thought!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11. Dammit I have a ticket for it
That's just way too much money to win, it'd be like dropping a nuclear bomb on my life. A $10 million jackpot I think I could roll with and come out on top. $1 mil paid out over 20 years would be no problem.

Problem is, having the ticket (bought on impulse - should have bought "Mass Cash" at $100k), I can't just throw it away, now can I?

17. I would buy that farm for homeless animals
that I've wanted my whole life. Ex-hubby and I take care of a colony of cats now - we're up to about 15 kittehs now - and it's really hard on our budget.

Ideally, we would have a HUGE piece of property and all animals would be welcome - and never put down, except for health reasons.

Also, I'd get my crappy teeth fixed. :-)

19. I rarely play
but on the occasions I have, I've thought I'd take care of all of my immediate family members (pay off homes, bills, set up funds for the kids, etc.).

Donate to causes I believe in that I know benefit a lot of people.

Set up my wife and I so we wont' have to worry about retirement.

Quit my job and go back to school to develop the vocation I should've developed when I was younger.
