1. Wow, I want to see almost all of them
Cowboys & Aliens, with Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford looks especially intriguing.

3. I will probably see some of those.
Some I'm much less intrigued by than the people who wrote the capsule (p)reviews.

4. looking forward to Cowboys and Aliens, Battle: Los Angeles, and Contagion
I'm really interested in seeing what Contagion is all about. From that little blurb, looks like an updated version of Outbreak.

5. The Adjustment Bureau
Philip K. Dick was a visionary. Posters on the message board say it is more of a rom-com, than a straight, Matrix/Dark City type overlord movie, but how can you go wrong with Matt Damon and Emily Blunt?

Here is the trailer: http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi2768439065/

10. Looks like a good movie.

There are a couple things, some say 'if you do something, you will hurt people around you, that is actually a delusion used to try to think you have to isolate yourself.' If you think you are protected, then anyone else can be also, however concepts of blacklisting use that mechanism. And umbrella concept can get false ideas of it being from a person that is the next delusion after that delusion.

Also there is a theory they have limited power, that is why they need authoritarian structures, so anyone that does resist, draws many of their resources away. You can actually defeat bad by choosing concepts of freewill based on what you think are better thoughts. And every time you do they have to put more resources on you, which can help someone else. Although I think they will figure it out. In the trailer it speaks about reasoning with people, they have not reasoned there way around anything. Where are there arguments, they don't have any, also showing they are not part of the core structure and have limited power.

And I am still due beer and travel money and many experiences. Looks like a good movie though. :) Hopefully it will be a good story :D

16. One of the reasons I like movies like this
I see them as analogies of what actually exists. I agree with you regarding their need to appear all powerful and thus the use of an authoritarian structure. One of the reasons they have power is because so much is kept secret. "Resistance is futile", the borg mantra was a mind manipulation, and while resistance can be difficult, it is not futile and the more people that resist, as you say, the more resources they use, throwing a few wrenches in the well oiled machine.

A few other films like this, off the top of my head:

The Forgotten, with julianne Moore, the power was attributed to aliens.

Dark City, William Hurt and Rufus Sewell, this one is more fantastical and again, the power is attributed to Aliens.

The Firm, with Tom I-can't-stop-smiling Cruise, the power is a mafia like law firm.

Total Recall, Sharon Stone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, a powerful corporation using mind control.

There are many more, just can't think of them right now.

6. They neglected to mention the one I'm super-jazzed about
Granted, it's technically a horror film and really doesn't belong grouped in that article but considering the director and the crazy high quality of the cast and the director, it's a total geekfest and I can't fucking wait to see it:

8. holy moly, just watched the trailer
and did a bit of reading about the film, ( "inspired by pastor Fred Phelps"), should have some twisted, dark humor. Now I am psyched for it.
