Ever won a lottery or a door prize? Me I was at a highland dancing competition and I won a
fruitcake...which was a big disappointment because I was about 9 and hated fruitcake. The most cash I've ever won is $10 playing scratch bingo. That is it.

The county Democratic Party's main fundraiser is the Huckleberry Social. I went to the 2010 version and won the first door prize--Politicians in a Sack!

4. I am in a lottery pool at work. We won a couple of thousand dollars ONCE.
By the time we divvied it up, I got about $120. It was still fun, though.

5. I won a teddy bear and a cake the same day in two separate raffles. I keep
hoping I will win a sweepstakes or lottery. I "won" life insurance, but that is a real sucky way to get money.

8. I won $1800 one time....
I was working 2 jobs after a spate of unemployment, so I was behind on bills. It was a Sunday morning, and I was just finishing my shift at a radio station(overnights) and knew I was going to be hitting up a friend for $50 for food and gas money for the week until payday.
I had a lottery ticket and checked it in the paper before I left work.
From what I could tell, I matched 4 numbers, which for that game, was good for about $80.
I was thrilled. I was going to make it the week without having to borrow from one of my friends.
Running on fumes, I stopped at the closet convenience store to cash the ticket in.
The dude scans it, looks at me, looks at the terminal again and then tells me he can't cash it.
I asked why not?
He said they can't pay out that amount of cash.
I said, "What are you talking about, it's under $100, you don't have $100 in the till?"
He said, "No. Don't you know how much you won? You won $1800!!!!"
My eyes bugged out and I called bullshit.
He invited me behind the counter to look at the terminal
Sure enough...$1857.
Sonofabitch!!!!
Needless to say I took a sick day on Monday, went straight to the lottery officer and hooked up!
Had a great summer that year. Bills were paid, and extra cash in the bank made for more concerts, beer and other summer fun

9. I won a door prize
at an indian casino one time. I think it was $200.

When I was young, my family used to make me do the cake walks at the school carnivals, because I would win two times out of three.

I got a call last week that Devon drilled on my great grandfathers land and I am an heir. I should be getting a check between four and five hundred dollars shortly. Not a lottery, but felt like it.

10. I won a chocolate Easter basket when I was 9
The basket was made out of chocolate and also had sweets in it. But because I was fat, my mom took it away from me and only let me have one or two pieces. And when I was in college I won a dance contest and got a $10 gift certificate to the local old-fashioned Main Street department store. I bought a tank top.

Cash/lottery? Pfffft. Never.

13. I won a $50 gift certificate to the Orbach's dept. store that used to be at the Cerritos Mall.
Damn that was a long time ago.

Hey I notice you live in Whittier. I have a movie in my library called The Atomic Cafe and in it there is a guy who is advertising the Whittier Quad as the largest shopping center in the San Gabriel Valley. It's in black and white and I'm assuming it's from the early 60's. The Quad has what, like twelve stores? LOL.

15. Yeah, The Quad.
I don't even think they're as big as Whitwood Ctr, a few blocks east.

The Quad has actually come up in the last ten years, but only because of restaurants and Starbucks.

You wanna see huge, try Victoria Gardens over in the 909. It's almost it's own neighborhood.
