David Nelson dies at 74; last surviving member of the TV sitcom family
David Nelson, the elder son of Ozzie and Harriet Nelson and the last surviving member of the family that became an American institution in the 1950s and '60s as the stars of the classic TV sitcom "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet," died Tuesday. He was 74.

Nelson died at his Century City home of complications from colon cancer, said publicist Dale Olson.

"The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" began on radio in 1944, focusing on the home life of bandleader Ozzie Nelson and his vocalist wife, Harriet Hilliard.

When I was a kid, I used to watch Ozzie and Harriet all the time. Then after the story was over, Ricky Nelson wouldl sing and play his guitar. Anyone else remember the show?

2. Yes, it makes me feel old too.
I hadn't thought of that show in years, but I still think of the Nelson boys as young'uns. Then to read that he died at 74! I said, 74? Wow! Then I read that he was the last member of the family left and I remembered when Rick Nelson died in the plane crash years ago. And I also remember that Rick's twin sons had a hair band back in the eighties. I read that they recently got back together and put out a new album. Feel older still.

3. I was just thinking of Rick Nelson the other day...his band was getting a lot of attention
and was touring the US when they were killed. I liked his music, and he had a GREAT guitarist-James Burton-for many years...

74 is not even old any more...whaqt a shame.
