Crap! Looks like I need to get a new water heater.

Just came through the garage and noticed water seeping out of the heater compartment. Guess i'll have to call my appliance repair buddy in a couple of hours when he gets up.

1. Same here. It isn't leaking, just doesn't provide much hot water.

It's only a 38 gal. and we're going to have a 50 gal. put in to replace it.

2. when they have it out and empty

look inside
if the scale is heavy you might want to make sure you get one with good anti scale properties
in florida our water is hard as concrete and i drain my heater once a month to keep scale down

3. Water heater replaced but now have gas leak outside.

On joint between pipe coming out of ground and meter. Called gas company and waiting now.

5. Throw dirt on the water heater to make it look old

Don't tell the gas company you just replaced it. They'll claim you broke their pipe and they'll try to charge you.

Sometimes, dumb looks can accomplish wonders.

7. Didn't have to. Besides I knew the person the gas company sent out.

6. As of 3 PM yesterday(Thur) I have heat, water and lots of hot water.

Of course I'm $600 poorer.
