I found this at random.I googled Fox News Lawsuit to Lie, and apparently it is true. Apparently it is their first amendment right to lie.
Wow. I wasn't sure if you guys had seen this. Just thought you might like to know if you didn't already.

1. I heard of this before!
Don't remember from who but it was a while ago and all I did was notice no one was making a big deal over it, and then I forgot anyway  Thank you for this link, I'll pass it on!

2. Yeah, I knew about that story when it was happening,
and that MonSatan was involved. Probably read it in the Nation originally, though I know DemocracyNow covered it, too.

I'm going to email this link to a neighbor-friend that's open to learning things like this :)

4. sad thing is that media has some kind of aura of truth
and I swear many people believe that the gummint (or someody) wouldn't let news-type media say something that wasn't true.
So the Fox Republican News uses the aura built up over many years to spread lies, as well as the 1st amendments rights.
Fucked up ain't it?

5. Feb 2003
In February 2003, Fox appealed the decision and an appellate court
and had it overturned. Fox lawyers argued it was their first amendment
right to report false information. In a six-page written decision, the
Court of Appeals decided the FCC’s position against news distortion is
only a “policy,” not a “law, rule, or regulation.”

7. Basically, they claim to be entertainment, not news.
As such, they're not required to tell the truth. I'm fine with that, but I think they should have to be upfront about it. I don't think they should be able to use all the "truthy" advertising they use. They should have to tell everyone straight up that they don't intend to tell them the truth.
