1. Absolutely.
I gave my copy away to a home health nurse and last I heard, it was making the rounds of all her friends at church... with appropriate outrage, I might add. :)

Need to buy another copy and get a new cycle started.

Yeah,
I think it would be good for high school students to read about how cruel the world can be if you don't get some kind of education, and also it would serve them well to know how hard that can be to come by. As well, as a little dose of reality.

5. Who's book is that?
The title sounds familiar but I can't place it.

9. Oh, that's the Barbara Ehrenreich book!
I really want to read that and I was going crazy trying to remember the name of it. I was in a Barnes & Noble looking for it; I figured I'd recognize the title if I saw it, but apparently I didn't see it. Unfortunately, I did see Ann Coulter's book prominently shown in at least three different places in the store. :puke:

7. It's an excellent book!

However, since I've spent my entire adult life (after dropping out of college) working low-paying, dead-end job, Barbara Ehrenreich didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know. Be that as it may, though, I wish every damned member of Congress would read that book!

8. I finished it a couple weeks ago
And I agree it should be manditory. I had those kind of jobs on college breaks but living with my parents, still on their health insurance, I obviously wasn't faced with the slightest difficulties. I was always amazed at the people I worked with could live on that, especially the ones with kids. I had a priviledged upbringing and I'm glad I had those jobs instead of cushy ones at dad's friend's company or something like that. I'd now be over at freeperland saying 'If you're poor it's because you aren't working hard enough you lazy bastard!'
