my friends die in the weirdest ways
http://www.richlands-news-press.com/news/article/tazewell_county_man_dies_in_police_cruiser/9218/

this is (was) one of my bud's from work.Have some info they didn't put in link.he was at a mutual friends and had had two beers. After he left someone saw him swerving and called cops.As a cop was passing the other way he clipped the side of a bridge..no real damage.

They got him pulled over and he was slurring and they smelled beer so they arrested him.He was for all intents and purposes dead when they got to the police station 5 minutes later.

they suspect he had a brain aneurysm.

That's 3 friends who have died of aneurysm's.

Want to be my friend?

1. Fuckedy fuck, fuck fuckedy fuck. You just reminded me of an early 80's song - "People Who Died"
I guess it could be considered early punk, but it was all about ways that young people the singer's age had died. Not something you would consider bedroom music.

4. I thought of that, too. It was by Jim Carroll.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bOjc70f4p8

Teddy sniffing glue, he was 12 years old
Fell from the roof on East Two-nine
Cathy was 11 when she pulled the plug
On 26 reds and a bottle of wine
Bobby got leukemia, 14 years old
He looked like 65 when he died
He was a friend of mine

Those are people who died, died
They were all my friends, and they died

G-berg and Georgie let their gimmicks go rotten
So they died of hepatitis in upper Manhattan
Sly in Vietnam took a bullet in the head
Bobby OD'd on Drano on the night that he was wed
They were two more friends of mine
Two more friends that died

Those are people who died, died
They were all my friends, and they died

Mary took a dry dive from a hotel room
Bobby hung himself from a cell in the tombs
Judy jumped in front of a subway train
Eddie got slit in the jugular vein
And Eddie, I miss you more than all the others
And I salute you brother

Those are people who died, died
They were all my friends, and they died

Herbie pushed Tony from the Boys' Club roof
Tony thought that his rage was just some goof
But Herbie sure gave Tony some bitchen proof
"Hey," Herbie said, "Tony, can you fly?"
But Tony couldn't fly, Tony died

Those are people who died, died
They were all my friends, and they died

Brian got busted on a narco rap
He beat the rap by rattin' on some bikers
He said, "Hey, I know it's dangerous, but it sure beats Riker's"
But the next day he got offed by the very same bikers

Those are people who died, died
They were all my friends, and they died

24. ...
Jimmy was a poet, lived in N-Y-C
Died at his desk on 9-1-1
And that was the number they called when his heart gave out
But it was too late 'cuz Jimmy was done, done, done.

Thank you, thank you ... *bows*

Edited on Wed Feb-16-11 04:43 PM by backwoodsbob
Anyone who has never been to a southern baptist funeral won't get this but we had lots of fun.

Hitting me harder today.

Bobby was the prototype biker.Hair in a ponytail halfway down his back, intimidating until you got to know him.The gentlest guy in the world once you did.

Buried a wonderful friend today

To you Bobby :toast: :toast:

On edit: Had to throw in his favorite song :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxNoAxb2IrM

edit two: His favorite band..this just seemed appropriate http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7C90sLh5Ok&feature=related

I was looking to talk tonight..kind of hurting tonight and needed to talk but..fuck it ..the popular posters cats being missing or someones dinner not being right is more important.

I used to think this site would be something where people could make a difference.

DU is nothing more than a popularity contest.don't fool yourselves that DU is some progressive do all that will change the world...it's just a popularity contest site like every other message board

10. Hey Bob, I just came on and found this thread.
I am so sorry for your loss. It is so hard to grasp the loss of a good friend, not sure it ever gets any easier. And lately my friends kids have been dying. That is something I will never get used to. I'll talk to you, or just listen if you want.

11. Funerals are really hard for me.
The receptions/ parties that follow can be wonderful. But then it ends and you are in such a strange, sad place. I am really, really hoping that someday when I die, everything will make sense and I'll shout "Oh, OK! I get it NOW!" And then I'll go and skip stones or hang out on a cloud with someone I love who I've been missing, or something. Sigh.

14. You know, I always tell people not to be sad for me if I kick.
But dammit, somebody better care enough to cry! You go ahead and cry. Because losing a friend hurts and you need to do it. But someday it won't hurt nearly as much, you know that right? Sounds like you have some experience at loss. Grief will have it's way and that is the way of it. I'd give you a real hug if I could.

Life's a mystery, and so is death...

Your friend will always live in your heart; he will always be part of you...

Remember those things, and they will help you get through this horrifying loss...

I would hope that you are now officially pre-disastered buddy. You could actually join the undertaker's union with a record like that! No wonder you are on the edge, I'd have gone over long before that.

21.  Grief counseling sounds like it might be a good idea.
Too much alcohol, not so much. But I completely understand why you might imbibe right now. You might want to think about organizing a tribute ride in your friend's memory. Raise money for s cause that was dear to his heart, or help the family he left behind? There is no making sense of death, but you can try to send your energy out to do some good and cherish his memory.

18. You know, music has helped me through loss.
Sometimes more than talking, just blasting some loud, powerful, bass takes over your heartbeat kind of music expresses all you feel inside. Sometimes the sad quiet music does it too.
