5. Those were great.
He's nuts but his series was fascinating.

I also have the book from Jacob Bronowski's "The Ascent of Man" and Robert MacNeil's "The Story of English".

And COSMOS.

6. I ate dinner with him back in the 80's.
Well, me and about a dozen college faculty. The funny thing was he chose to sit at a table with me and some other peons. The faculty were miffed.

I literally rubbed elbows with him.

7. It was a great series
but I found the followup series, Connections2 and Connections3 to be far less interesting than the original. It was like they were really stretching to find these supposed connections.

But the original was brilliant.

8. No way. No way whatsoever. That guy was full of bull. I can't remember
his exact words, but almost every sentence was like
"And so Gutenberg pubished the bible, and suddenly WE were all reading books."
No we were not. And it took hundreds of years before very many people were reading books. And even still today most people do not read anything, other than maybe the sports page.
They all just want pictures to look at.
