Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane for Superman reboot

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Amy Adams will play Lois Lane in the upcoming Superman reboot, filling iconic shoes worn at various times by Noel Neill, Margot Kidder, Teri Hatcher and Kate Bosworth.

She will play the enterprising Daily Planet journalist and key love interest opposite British actor Henry Cavill, who was previously cast as Superman/Clark Kent. Diane Lane and Kevin Costner will play his adoptive parents.

Zack Snyder ("Sucker Punch") will direct the Warner Bros. project, which is set for a December 2012 release.

In fact, you could pretty much say that about any aspect of this reboot. That's how bad Superman Returns was.

Bosworth was absolutely terrible as Lois Lane and had zero chemistry with Brandon Routh. She's also quite possibly the most boring Lois Lane I've ever seen, when Lois Lane should have been anything but.

Superman Returns, which I incidentally found to be quite enjoyable, is more of a non-linear sequel to Superman II than a reboot of the original film.

I missed the first few minutes or so, but overall it was a good film. While the first couple of Superman movies with Reeves were enjoyable, they were a bit cheesy, even back when they came out ;)

Nevertheless, Routh did a respectable job of it.

The film suffered from too much time spent on the super-voyeur aspect of Kal-el still super-carrying a super-torch for Ms. Lane, but otherwise it was a lot of fun.

23. It wasn't totally awful. I, too, thought, Brandon Routh did a good job.

I think the airplane rescue scene was one of the best of any of the movies.

But yeah, the whole "Super-stalker" subplot (and the miscasting of Ms. Bosworth) were a drag.

don't know her that well at all, hopefully she does better than Bosworth.

I'm a huge superman homer, and I thought Bosworth was worthless in the role as Lois Lane.

A side note, this Amy Adams was in an episode of Smallville(Season I, Cravings) too, the episode where she is being teased about her weight, and she drinks a Kryptonite enhanced weight loss drink to lose weight. She starts to lose to much weight and starts eating people, and large animals to satisfy her hunger.

10. IMO Bosworth's failings in Superman Returns are largely the fault of the writer and director

I think that they were so worried (not unreasonably) about filling Christopher Reeve's boots that the role of Lois took a distant back seat.

On the gazillion hours of special features on Superman Returns, Singer spends forever finding the right actor to play Superman. When Singer, and I believe the two writers of the film start talking about the role of Lois they kind of get quite, and Singer(or one of the Writers) state that Spacey(as in Kevin) has got the perfect person to play Lois(Bosworth). It appears to me, that Singer and Co took in Bosworth because of Spacey's influence.

Spacey and Bosworth worked quite well together in Beyond the Sea, but those were arguably very different roles from Lex & Lois!

The whole Lois-had-a-superbastard plotline was, while artistically brave, utterly stupid. They took a risk, but it was a bad risk. In the end they were just trying to emo up the whole Lois-Clark relationship. Superman works best when you see that Clark is more than just a loser.

I didn't really care about any of the main characters in the movie. It wasn't just Lois that was given short shrift - I felt none of the main characters were developed all that well.
