You have my sympathy for having to live in Galesburg for 4 years.

2. I liked Galesburg, but it was a long time ago...
When I've passed through it recently (and only passed through), it looked really kind of shabby and run down, at least the parts I saw. Looked like the bad economic times have really hit it hard. I was only there for 2 and a half years, but loved my time there, including the town back then.

3. I was there for 3 years in the mid 80s.
The economy was awful, high unemployment, etc. I understand things perked up a bit later but it looks like it's gone downhill again.

5. Yeah I think it's still considered somewhat "elite" or sort of anyway
among small midwest liberal arts colleges. I was pretty smart (but not very focused)and fell on my face academically there so yeah, I'd say it's a "hard" school.

Flunk Day was THE party of the year though. It was not announced until the same morning and was one school wide party---everything else was canceled and again, almost no one knew exactly when it was gonna be.
