3. I've tried to post twice but quit midstream!
Here goes! I wrote a letter a day while gone for an extended period of time, created a photo journal of special places and times for our 10th anniversary, 15 years running of one night a week date night with candles and a good meal, general good grooming habits and a flare of the exotic in the kitchen! How's that?

2. I'm a hopeless romantic!

1. My heart melts at the sight of a baby (both human and animal).

2. I love to rub a cat's belly while it lays on its back and sticks its legs straight up in the air, all the while purring its content.

3. I always shed tears during the final scene of "It's A Wonderful Life."

4. I once spent a good half-hour lying on my stomach in the grass on a summer's day, watching a bee pollinating (sp?) the flowers.

5. I love to drive to my favorite lake in the country to read poets like Byron, Shelley and Whitman, especially during the fall, when I'm often the only one there and the only thing I can hear is the breeze blowing through the trees.

6. I once rolled around naked in the grass during a late-night thunderstorm.

I think you get the idea....

Whaat is wrong with being a hopless romantic? i may not be naked, but i have rolled around in a thunder storm. i might even say i am a hopeless romantic, but it is what attracts women to me. i think that it can be more fufilling than a normal relationship in many cases. you just might wanna find someone to share it with.

5. The setting sun casts an orange glow across his billowing cape
Edited on Thu Aug-14-03 11:15 PM by ForrestGump
as he gracefully leaps from the castle walls to land softly upon the tufted grass beyond. A single economical move and he vaults into the saddle of his trusty steed, Bob, and the two instantly transform into a blue of motion beneath the guttering sun.

Finally he returns home, to the house on the hill, a glowing limestone edifice surrounded by lush groves of olives. Striding from the stable, beads of sweat trickling down his chest and causing his puffy-sleeved silk blouse to mold to the contours of his chiseled body, he goes in search of his one true love.

And there before him, suddenly, is the vision of beauty that never fails to make his breath catch in his throat; a loveliness that makes his heart begin to pound ever harder, a persistent throbbing echoed in a stirring that more deeply enfuses his entire being and that can only be satisfied in one way. He steps forward, heavy with love....closer to the mirror.

EDIT: typos threatened to destroy the bodice-ripping pace.....

First Night

You came into my life
with grace, giving me time
to want all of you. That
first night I couldn't say
whether your passion or
your gentleness moved me
more, the way we took each
other or how we talked
till dawn, our brief sleep a
ceremonial act
in the strangeness of love.

29. I remember that...
You are a wonderfully sweet, romantic woman with a poetic soul.

Do you remember this?

Cat's claw wit,
presses a calculated point,
then glides away;
A tapestry of words,
woven from a subtler silk
than this pen provides.

Once written, I am twice as shy;
A simple smile suffices
to unword me. Now you can
take the pen from my faltering hand
and close the book.
This work is done.

18. I'm definitely missing that gene
On scale of 1 to 10 I'd guess I'm a negative 50. I've been told it's because I'm an INTJ, but whatever the reason, I always joke that my ideal proposal would be a power point presentation on why I should get married. Jewelry? A waste of money and irritating to wear. Flowers? They die. Candles? Fire hazard, fire hazard, fire hazard.

I think what bothers me about romance is that it always comes across as some cheesy, one-size-fits-all thing. "Chicks like flowers, so here you go." The best valentine's day gift I ever got was a midget porn video. My then boyfriend knew me well enough to know that making me laugh was infinitely better than trying (and failing) to make me melt. If I come home to flowers and dinner and wine then I know he's not paying attention. If I come home to a clean house, a Whopper with no mayo, and whatever movie I've been wanting to see then I'd be forced to sit down and put together my own power point presentation. :)

36. Fellow INTJ here
Also female. I have to admit, first appearances don't make people think I'm romantic, or very girlie for that matter.

I am, however, something of a sensualist. I love to have experiences that play up the senses: sight (colors), touch (textures), smells (good perfume, maybe), taste (exotic flavors are always welcome).

Laughter is always good.

And once I get to know someone, I intuitively get on their level about what they like.

20. When I lived in AZ...
Edited on Thu Aug-14-03 11:34 PM by rasputin1952
I used to be very close to my thoughts. I lived in a very sparsely populated area, and I had a lot of time to be with my memories.

I can recall walking with one of my first girlfriends through a soft Summer rain. It was exhilarating, and at the time, I could not have been with a greater person. She was warm and intelligent, and I often wonder what became of her. I hope she has a wonderful life.

Sometimes, I can wake up next to a woman, and just lay ther in awe; why would anyone want to be with me? The trust, the lightest of breaths, the joy of just being with someone that can make your day a little bit brighter, and make you enjoy what life has to offer.

I still remember all of the good times in my life, and suppress the bad. Gentle caresses on moonlit nights, that have become part of my very soul. Those days are long gone...but I remember.

Over the years, try as I may not to, I have become cynical, and have realized that love has left me on the trail of tears. In still get misty eyed when I watch 'Casablanca', and wonder where my Ilsa may be, or how many times I have let her go, never to know what might have been.

But who would have me? Who would be there to hold my hand, and tell me that they love me with all of their heart; as I have done in the past with others. Love, like all emotions, can be brutal in its honesty. But it is honesty that makes us who we are.

On Summer nights, I find that I cannot turn back time...I am destined to be here, but be here alone. But, I remember the days of old...and I am whole again.

Once again, edited: spelling

21. How's this?:
I bought a music box playing my wife's fave tune, put her engagement ring in it, had the whole thing gift-wrapped, and gave it to the restaurant manager, who, later that night, made sure it was delivered to our table with the wine. She opened the package and saw her music box, opened the box, and saw her engagement ring, accompanied by her favorite music. Whereupon, I got down on one knee and proposed.

She said 'Yes.'

But, specific actions are dependent on the woman at whom the romantic gestures are aimed. Mostly, listen, and you'll figure out how to do what your SO will find romantic.

33. I think I'm very romantic, but ...
I probably do a poor job of expressing my emotions. Also, I will try to hold back from time to time because I don't want to come off as being too "over the top", and I think for most women there is a fine line between romantic and wuss.

I'm in love and I want to spend time with her. I like to plan little weekend getaways, just the two of us. But that is not possible often due to money and children.

My idea of romance could be a candlelit dinner in a nice restaurant with a sparkling view of city lights, but it also includes eating take-out from the DQ in our bed while we giggle at old Seinfeld reruns. I guess I just want to make the best of what we have in life, and share that with the person I love.

Oh well, dorky post as usual.

who exudes a certain geeky charm. My wife sure did. She rescued me from terminal nerdhood. A woman as beautiful, sexy and smart as she gave me confidence around other women. So now I have no problem relating to women at all.

45. Here ya go!
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed,
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course untrimmed:
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st,
Nor shall death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st,
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

I FILMED it! I was so aghast....

Still, I guess even my heroes must have their little outlets. Not that his outlet was so little, of course.

that you would be surrounded by scantily clad young women.

Now it all becomes clear.

Oh Forrest.

81. Sure, deny it now. Try to distance yourself.
It'll all come out in your campaign for the governorship of California.

86. Uhm...actual dates........
1.) Drive up mountainside in tropical rainforest. Lunch in open air cafe beside a rushing stream with wild chriping tree frogs serenading us. Afternoon spent lounging beside a clear, deep pool at the base of a waterfall.

2.) Drive to white sandy tropical beach. Lunch of fried plantain and roast pork at roadside cabana. Afternoon spent lounging beneath swaying palm trees sipping ice cold coconut milk with a straw. Making love in lapping surf as the sun set.

3.) Flying two-seat plane to Saint Thomas for breakfast at "The Greenhouse". Renting scooter for ride around the island. Lunch spent at Frenchman's Reef swimming in crystal waters. Afternoon flying around Virgin Islands at 500 feet and below, watching mega-yachts and sailboats.

4.) Sailing naked from Puerto Rico to Saint Croix and back. Just the two of us.

Many, many more........ latest?

5.) Week in Taormina Sicily eating, swimming, drinking and dancing while the kids stayed with Grandma!
