Taking break from GD-flames are starting up.
There are some flames gearing up shortly in GD. I think I'll sit a few of the threads out.

Who wants to talk about anything besides Ed Schultz?

1. Me. It hasn't rained in Houston since Clinton's inauguration.
I'm starting to lose my mind. How are you?

2. Would you like some of our rain?
We've had tornado touchdowns in my area today and it's still a decent rain as I type. My backyard is flooded.

3. Please...Please, yes!
I have forgotten what raindrops look like. I wish I was just being funny, but it's been forever. We've been getting excited over 20% chances of rain.

4. If you can find a way to pack it up and take it with
you may have it.

It's either flood or drought around here.

17. You should be getting rain.
Like, RIGHT NOW!!1!

I see the radar is showing a rotating thunderstorm in Aldine, crossing 45N now. Out west, Flatonia, Schulenburg, Weimar and Columbus are getting pounded, and it's moving almost due east along I-10. There was a tornadic thunderstorm down in Wharton, but it seems to have dissipated. Liberty County is getting pounded, too.

Stay safe tonight! :hi:

6. I was in the middle of one once
a few years ago. Bashing Oprah can go on for days, as it did back then.

I think the worst I've ever been in have been here in the Lounge. I was involved in the infamous cornflake chicken, the Laura Branigan wars, and the NYC Olive Garden.

In most areas that's a safe topic.

12. Right... and it's a strange spring...
I shouldn't complain, because it could be drought conditions in SW PA. It tisn't... lots and lots and lots of rain.

Aren't you bored to death now? It's much more fun and dangerous to say, "it's as humid here as a slut working a Republican convention!"

13. I'm a vet to the flamewar.
Years ago I would jump right in and post. Now, I'm a bit more set in my ways and I don't want to fight it out.

Weather-wise, it has been a strange spring. The women's group at church had a brunch back in March and a few, myself included, all felt that we were "overdue" for a nasty spring/summer. We had a drought for a few years so we knew it was time for the floods. Plus, we hadn't had a humdinger of a storm so-well, you see what happened in the southern part of my state. The whole world knows about Joplin.

15. There's 5% more water vapor in our atmosphere, I understand...
Maybe the floods would have been the normal cycle, but what happened to you was unbelievable.

A good thought for the people of Joplin !

16. I feel bad for Joplin.
I knew it was going to be a late start to the season and I knew it would be a big producer-I felt it in my bones, as they say. I had no idea what happened to Joplin would happen. A friend from school is assisting there and he posted on facebook that it was like a war zone. He said he thought he was back in Iraq.

8. 8:1
Ratio of the length of a barnacle's penis to the rest of it's body, making it proportionately the largest phallus in the animal kingdom. Barnacles need an unusually long appendage in order to reach mates while anchored in place; a recent study found that barnacles in turbulent waters had much shorter and stouter organs than those in protected harbors, perhaps due to a "trade off between length and maneuverability" of the penis in high waves. Among vertebrates, the Argentine duck is the leader, with a penis that can exceed the length of the bird's 16 inch body.
