Lhouþ after calue cu.
Bulluc sterteþ, bucke uerteþ,
Murie sing cuccu!
Cuccu, cuccu, wel þu singes cuccu;

Ne swik þu nauer nu.

The ewe bleats after the lamb
The cow lows after the calf.
The bullock stirs, the stag farts,
Merrily sing, Cuckoo!
Cuckoo, cuckoo, well you sing,

5. Richard Thompson "covered" that
a few years back on his CD/DVD box set "1000 Years of Popular Music." It was the oldest song on the set. As for the newest, you ain't lived until you hear RT cover "Oops, I Did It Again" on acoustic guitar. The man has a deeply ironic sense of humor to go with his massive talent.
