Amazingly, most of the idiots at Free Republic had never even heard Coulter's infamous quote about Timothy McVeigh. When I proved to them that the quote was indeed real, they claimed she was only joking. Of course, a couple of the more scary Freepers actually agreed with Coulter's wish that McVeigh had bombed the New York Times building.

The end result... I was banned for criticizing Coulter while Freeps who shared Coulter's advocacy of terrorism went unpunished.

The moral of the story... Criticizing Ann Coulter at Free Republic is punishable by banishment. Advocating terrorism at Free Republic is considered acceptable.

Ann Coulter... A folk hero at Free Republic.

3. Mentioning DU

I was actually pretending to be a freeper to develop street creds. I start a thread titled "DU, what a joke!". 2 minutes later I get a notice saying "There is no mentioning of DU here and I end up getting banned and my thread vanishes.

Once you get banned once, he will ban you again if someone complains about your posting. He either bans a range of IP numbers (for a particular ISP), or he uses the browswer to read cookie info or computer user info (I think that is close to hacking!) to ID the poster.

11. Hmm....FR has changed "spider hole" to "rathole" in my top post there!

When I made that post, I actually wrote that Immanuel Goldstein/Saddam had been pulled from a Spider Hole, but they changed it to rathole.

Here is their edit of my original FR post:

The thread had a "debate" about what was the nature of Kerry's service and whether his decorations were legit, one of the posters was doubting whether he deserved any of his decorations but too lazy to do any research. So I just posted this link:

I was a member of FR for about 2 months, and managed to stay one for a few weeks, mostly arguing, in a very polite way, that Clinton did not kill 52 people. I probably made a few other comments, but mostly I tried to position myself as a moderate Republican. What finally got me kicked off was when Matt Drudge took the FreeRepublic link off his website. The Freepers were terribly upset, and I made a few snide comments, and, poof, my membership ended.

No kidding. I posted a sincere request for prayer. I got a lot of sincere responses, until someone checked my profile, where I had posted my home page, which contains photos of Mrs. V. & me. (When I say I'm out, I mean I'm out. I don't hide anywhere I go.) The person who "discovered" these photos, and obviously the FR admin, assumed that I was insincere -- because, my god, this is horrible! And no lesbian could possibly think we'd actually pray for it -- and banned me.

The guy actually wrote in the thread, attn to the admin: "We're being duped."

I just mostly observe. I have been a member for over a year. There's no way you will ever win with these people, believe me, though they are our neighbors. Actually, a few of them have been really kind to me. So you never know, but watch your back, okay? I haven't been on for ages, but will tell you my screen name, in case we ever run into each other.
