They started out as second-rate Stones clones with none of the cleverness or risk, other than a Zep rip here or there. Never did understand the hype, although the intro to "Sweet Emotion" is catchy - it's downhill once Tyler starts screeching. There is something painfully white about them, which makes them perfect for AOR/Classic Rock radio fans.

Eh, they whore for The Gap now, so it doesn't matter.

6. They rocked; they drugged; they cleaned up; now they bore me

I'll still occasionally listen to "Rocks," which I bought in '76 when I was 12. I saw them live in '76---it was a good show but not a great one. I've toyed with the idea of buying the remastered CD versions of "Toys In the Attic" and "Get Yer Wings," which I remember from my youth as being fine, hard-rocking albums (and I have no idea where my vinyl versions are). Put it this way, if money were no object, I'd buy those two. I never got into any of their stuff during their drug phase or, more recently, their comeback phase. I respect them for cleaning up and having a second act to their career. But their pop-rock just doesn't do it for me at all. Are they sell-outs for doing Gap ads, or appearing with Britney Spears, etc. in that lamentable Super Bowl halftime show? Shit, far be it from me to tell them how to manage their careers---they're guys in their 50s who are making a damn fine living. But in my opinion they haven't made classic rock since the '70s.

7. I enjoy Aerosmith.

Even Get A Grip and Nine Lives were pretty good. Just Push Play had some good moments but it seemed like they were pandering too much on that one. THeir new CD sounds interesting because they are reinterpreting old blues songs. I know some will think that they are doing this to get attention, but if they wanted to get attention covering tunes, they would pick some shitty soft rock or a lounge singer like Sinatra to cover. FYI, I am not denegrading Sinatra so don't flame me. But people don't get a lot of glory for covering Blues songs. and when they do it, they do it out of love for the music. I am convinced that is why Clapton has done it and I am convinced that that is why Aerosmith has done it on their very recent release.

I will admit, I am partial to their earlier 70's releases over their later stuff. I am listening to Get Your Wings right now. But I still enjoy just about all of their output.

8. "Seasons Of Whither" may be the best song they ever recorded

IMHO, of course.

"Done With Mirrors" wasn't a bad album. No one ever talks about that one.

"Done With Mirrors" and "Rock in a Hard Place" are very overlooked. With Rock, it is understandable, with no Joe Perry on the record, that being the only album that that is true about, but Done With Mirrors was interesting.

11. That's how I feel

Just Push Play was a step up at least after that awful Diane Warren song and Nine Lives IMO. I think their 70s work is pretty timeless, and their 80s work is solid if a little bombastic. On Honkin' On Bobo, they went back to their old producer, Jack Douglas.
