Could you drink 30 beers in less than 6 hours?
And not be dead? :wow:

JUNEAU — A Fox Lake man accused of injuring five people in a drunken driving crash has been bound over for trial.

(snip)

Smith told police he was traveling on Highway 33 to a friend's house about 4 p.m. Aug. 20 when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with an oncoming vehicle head-on.

Smith admitted he had consumed at least a 30-pack of beer since 10 a.m. that morning, according to the criminal complaint.

At the time of the accident, Smith was serving a probation term with conditions that prohibited him from drinking, according to the complaint.

1. No, I couldn't, but I saw it done once.
When I was 18 or so, only one of my friends had his own apartment. Partying there one night I saw him drink 32 beers (he had his own case, and emptied it, and dug into a second one) in the space of about seven hours. He could still stand up and walk around without crashing into anything. Pretty amazing, but we were all a lot younger back in the 1970s. :)

3. Age, size and drinking history matter
The younger you are, the better your liver. The bigger you are, the more blood you have to distribute the booze and if you drink all the time, your liver produces more enzymes to metabolize alcohol. That said, I would puke after my 6th beer, or just pass out, either way, I wouldn't be driving. I lived in Alaska and the bars close at 5am and re-open at 6am, and some of those guys drink alot.

6. "Beer Is Never Purchased - Merely Rented."
At some point you'd have to bring your case of beer with you into the bathroom and just sit there, acting as the intermediary between the bottle and the toilet.

9. Could be, it's still relatively warm there
They walk around in t-shirts and shorts in 50 degree weather. But, I am betting he had his fly open and was just aiming out the window and not caring about splashes.

10. I'm 6'6" 240lbs and I regularly drink high gravity Ales. I could do 30 BudLights
In college, we'd drink Natty Light suitcases (18) in a couple hours pregame before football games

12. Most likely.
But I'm not a big fan of beer. As it is, a sixer won't even really give me a buzz. I'm not much of a drinker now, but in college I used to have no problem finishing off a liter bottle of Southern Comfort (86 proof). I'd imagine that's about the same amount of alcohol. Just a lot more concentrated.

13. I am a wine drinker. I could probably do a 1/2 gallon of wine
in 30 hours, but I sure as hell would not go and drive.

16. Yeah, but I don't because it dramatically increases the chances I'll do stupid things
And if I tried to drive I would certainly crash.

17. i couldn't drink 6 beers in 30 hours
there is something about beer that triggers a feeling of fullness about a beer and a half the way in, as far as i'm concerned

18. 5 beers/hr for 6 hours?
Edited on Sat Sep-03-11 12:31 PM by Iggo
I may have done it a couple times. Six hours in-a-row seems tough, though. If I remember correct, the drunker I got, the slower I drank, so maybe not.

Either way, I doubt I could've gotten my car out of the driveway, let alone down the street.
