Watching "Gran Torino" on TNT.
Clint Eastwood as a grumpy old grandpa -- perfect!

1. I thought he was really good...
in that part. He reminded me of people I knew/know from that generation that had gotten grumpy and didn't always say the nicest things.

and I know I shouldn't have laughed at some of the things he said...but I couldn't help it...

It really is a great movie.

20. Not just a weapon... the finest ever made, according to Patton.
So you'd better get off his lawn damn quick!

4. I know what your saying.....
like people from New York who say "F@#k you :hi: " when what they mean is "How you doing?" (as aposed to the folks from L.A who say 'How you doing? :eyes: " when what they mean is "F@#k you.")

6. Wait...
I thought everyone did that, it's only people from New York?!?! :hi:

Another good one...people from the south often use "bless your heart" and it's meant as an insult. All in the context of the conversation...

8. A long string of cliches that build, surprisingly, to a powerful conclusion
I submit that no other actor currently alive could have pulled off that climactic scene as effectively.

12. You will probably never have a definitive feeling about it.
I felt total shock, I felt such sadness, I felt relief that these thugs were going to be punished, I was inspired that this old coot had become such a caring person. Especially inspired by his change over the course of the movie.

All is all, this movie was probably Eastwood's best.

16. Eastwood is a war promoter / conservative...that 'served his country' as a lifeguard in sunny CA.
Much like that other famous warmongering actor, John Wayne.

Both supported war and promote the concept, in the movies,
but knew enough to try and stay far the hell out of the real thing
when it happened during their lifetimes.

But, y'know, carry on with your mindless entertainment.
"What the hell are you spooks up to?" Classic Eastwood, right?

18. Not really. When I began to, I was reminded of the things I mentioned in my post.
Kind of like enjoying the album Filosofem by Burzum.

But maybe you're just being snarky?

21. Just trying to get the question answered, without all the politics added.
There are times in life where politics doesn't matter. If you let politics run your life, then you miss out on a lot of living.
