What dangerous stuff did you do in your youth? I used to go out to some stables and rent a horse and
go tearing around the fields at a gallop. I didn't know how to ride, never taken a lesson. I had no helmit. When I think about it now I shudder. I must have done it about 5 times.

2. Everything. I'm amazed I'm in one piece.
Rode a bicycle without a helmet. Went sailing in a Sailfish in a Great Lakes ship channel. Explored the woods at night as a very little kid (looking for fireflies) without adult supervision. Hitchhiked as a teenager. Also did a little horseback riding on a completely buck-nekkid horse, just hanging onto its mane. Climbed very large trees. Caught snakes bare-handed. Taught myself to drive a stick shift.

3. I was a tank crewman in the Army.
Just being around the M1 Abrams was dangerous.

And we tankers used to joke about our estimated battlefield lifespan in a full-up conventional armored conflict with the Soviets. Some said 15 seconds, others, 7.

Still, for an adventure-seeking 20 year-old, it was glorious fun... B-)

4. I hung out with a kid that got expelled.
He showed me how to cause minor havoc.

I put a sawhorse in the middle of a two lane road stopping traffic in both directions.
I shot off bottle rockets from an overpass in Detroit into oncoming traffic.
I rode shotgun while he did burn outs and crazy eights on a private lawn.

I have rehabilitated. And I haven't seen him in over 25 years. Sorry for the hell I caused.

5. I used to ride the back of the N Judah cable car....
'till one fate full night left the back plating of the train torn off, and left me walking with a limp for two months. Good times  anyway, thank the goddess for the limpness caused by booze and for leather jackets, or else i would probably not be here to post this.
