What is the most ambitious thing you ever tried while high or drunk?
Me ... I thought I could learn guitar that night, I played and played until my fingers were raw. My friends laughed a lot, but it sounded fantastic to me. The other guitar player said I was doing GREAT. Who knew he was just as bombed as I was?

Needless to say, the next day I tried and omg, I found out I didn't even know a single chord.

1. A one-and-a-half flip off the diving board while completely naked...
.
.
.
... I NAILED that dive -- Olympic-quality stuff... nary a ripple when I slid
into the water.
.
.
.
I have never felt the urge nor the need nor the potentially scrotally-destructive
drive to try it again.
.
.
.
Been there. Done that. TYVM.

2. Road trip
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it!

Actually, I started in bay area and headed for Washington state. Greatest road trip ever, totally spontaneous.

The libation was on the descent. We went down the cirque side.

I did some silly stuff back then (1979).

6. Jeez-where do I begin? Wrote a Psych. Term Paper totally off the top of my very drunk head
300 level course. Aced it, and based solely on it, was invited to participate in an honors seminar class the following semester.
Does the acid vs. mescaline softball game of '71 count too?

11. Tumbling - gymnastic type tumbling
I think it was the first time I ever got drunk and all of us drunks thought we could tumble over a mattress without touching it with any part of our body. I don't think I ever :puke: so much in my life.

16. went spelunking once while tripping on acid....
Explored a cave in West Virginia with two of my buddies, about thirty years ago. Pried the cover off the entrance-- we were trespassing, too-- about midnight, tripping on acid. Carried flashlights only and a bag full of candles and other goodies. Climbed, wiggled, and slid for a long time through the dark, exploring passages, cracks, and rooms. After the first ten minutes or so we looked like mud men. Every now and then we'd stop and waste some pot-- I mean, what's the point when you're full-on tripping? Finally reached a dead end room and filled it with candles, then discovered that the water bottle was empty but someone had thoughtfully packed a full fifth of (warm) vodka, which as I remember actually tasted pretty good. We killed it, naturally.

Crawled back out the entrance at daybreak, just as the sun was coming up. Then drove home. THAT was the stupid thing, really.

I'm not sure whether this qualifies as the MOST ambitious thing I ever did while stoned-- that's a long list! I don't even think it was the dumbest. But it was memorable!

18. I have climbed a number of non-technical peaks
on lsd or mushrooms but not since 1986.

After going to see the Haight in Fall 1966, age 13, I spent the night with a friend hiding in Golden Gate Park because we ate "love burgers". The first sandwich I ever ate that had sprouts and did not contain meat or wasn't peanut butter and jelly.

I was a regular at Fillmore West and Winterland 1968 to 1974 and there are some gaps in what were adventures. lolol

I graduated with highest honors from UC Berkeley and smoked pot nearly every day and took hallucinogenics 2-3X per month while self supported and with an 8th grade Dad angry cuz I was going to that hippie school in a worthless field of study.

I don't do things drunk except used to dance wildly long ago.

22. These replies are hilarious.
Mine seems pretty tame now! I think I must have done other stuff besides learn to be a master guitar player in one night, maybe my mind is blocking it out. Although I do remember being on top of the hotel roof one night playing poker. I think it was poker.

24. Mushrooms for me too....I sat through a 2 hour college night class (state and local govt)
Where the chalk boards were breathing and the chairs were dancing. Thank god the prof didn't want any responses from us. Mine would have been sheer gibberish.

A year later (1975)on LSD I wrote myself a note and put in my wallet. Found it about a year later. It read "if you survive tonight, seek mental help". I really should have taken my advice.

27. Read Carl Sagan's "The Dragons of Eden"
Cover to cover, while high, on a beach on Lake Michigan,
in one day.

I was 17.

I was "burnt" in more ways than one by the end of the day,
but the revelations presented in the book have always stayed
with me.

Carl Sagan lives!

"For small creatures such as we the vastness is bearable only through love."

29. Believing I knew how to dance...
Believing I knew how to dance...

A one hour drive from DFW (TX) to the wedding of people I'd never met in Honey Grove with two loose joints in the ashtray as my only company had me thinking I was Fred Astaire.

So what else was a stoned-off-his-gourd kid in his late-teens/early twenties supposed to do when Falco's 'Rock Me, Amadeus' was playing loud enough to shake off his Members Only jacket?

Curiously enough, I've since heard that I made it onto the wedding video. :P
