How many of these drinks have you had?

Remember when you'd find these placemats in a restaurant? I ate at one the other day that still uses these (I think this was a 70's thing but maybe the restaurant bought a truckload of them so they still use them).

Some of these drinks are pretty obsolete.

2. You'll have to buy a bottle of Rye and make one this weekend
I had a coworker that went to a restaurant that used these placemats. As a lark their group ordered one of everything from the placemat for the first round. It baffled the bartender since some of these drinks really aren't made anymore like the Pink Lady.

3. Screwdriver and Martini
But I am not a big fan of mixed drinks in general. The only mixed drink I have with any regularity at all is a White Russian and that is 99% because I love the Big Lebowski and 1% because they are damn tasty.

I will occasionally mix up some Margaritas at home but I would never order one out.

I am a huge fan of big beers and I like single malt scotch (Laphroaig w00t w00t!) and those are what get most of my drinking time and money.

39. Have you been to the Polish festival?

I saw a billboard for that, and haven't been.

But the Oktoberfest is this weekend too, and I might hit my limit on sausage.

I just like the festivals where I can walk to them - makes it easier to stumble home and not have to drive

11. My cowboy friend in Texas called them
"Hi-war-yann flowerdy dranks" and he didn't take kindly to them either. It always made me laugh.

Actually I THINK I kinda miss Lone Star beer. Haven't had it in 30+ years though so I may be remembering through beer colored glasses.

37. In my experience, it's not the mixing that pisses off bartenders
It's the blender machines. I worked at one place where the poor owner kept buying blenders for the bar and they kept magically breaking. I loved those bartenders.

Best story. The owner once had the bright idea to install a telephone behind the bar. The thing lasted all of five hours. I watched in delight as my favorite tarbender picked up the receiver, cut the cord and shoved evil device in the sink.

Although, one was actually Rum and Diet Coke. The Harvey Wallbanger was the "in" drink around the time I became "legal". I had one or two, but I prefer beer. And, if I'm going to have a Bloody Mary, I prefer it to actually be a Bloody Maria, using tequila, instead of vodka.

19. I've had 9 out of 28
Daiquiri
Screwdriver
Manhattan
Whiskey Sour (along with a variety of other sours like Amaretto Sour)
Martini (although usually it was an speciality martini - I do not like Olives or Onions)
Rob Roy (was going thru a scotch phase)
Rum Cola (actually I preferred Diet Dr. Pepper - same concept)
Tom Collins (I hate gin but at a party someone gave me one)
Mint Julep (I hate minty drinks but I was at a Derby Party so I had to do one)

26. Screwdriver, Martini, Bloody Mary,
Sidecar (yum!! :)), Cuba Libre, Zombie, G&T. And another '70s doozy called the Dirty Mother - equal parts brandy and Kahlua topped off with half-and-half and stirred. Lemme tell ya, that last one is delicious and soooo smooth going down. Unfortunately it is very, VERY hard coming back up again. :puke:

I generally like my hard stuff straight (ice cold vodka) or neat with a splash (good whisky). Exceptions are made for a great vodka martini or a sidecar, though.

Of course, in NOLA, the pathetic little sip in the upper left does not qualify as a "daiquiri". THIS is a daiquiri:

To be fair, I worked in bars.

From that selection, the Vodka Gimlet is my favorite. The Rum/cola with an added squeeze of lime (Cuba Libra) is my second favorite.

41. All of them once at-least. Most of them repeatedly.
My brother is a bartender and this is all along his learning curve...so I was the guinea pig for his practicing when he was starting out. I must have done something right...he's one of those bartenders that gets written up in culinary magazines and has Philly restaurant scene name-recognition now.

Also, I'm a recovering cocktail drinker.
