1. Was on the same bill with them several times.
We had the same booking agent.

Probably seen em over 50 times. Late 60's rock scene in Detroit was smokin.

2. I bow to thee, Good Sir.
I've long worshipped the time and place from afar. Is there perchance a story forthcoming? ;)

3. The one that come immediately to mind
Is Scott Asheton(drummer) once set up with a double bass on his drum set. The left hand didn't have a bass pedal. It was for looks.

This was around the time that Alice Cooper was gaining popularity. Their drummer has a double bass with double mounts on each bass. It looked impressive. (My set had a single bass with double mount and a single floor tom)

I remember a show at the Eastown theatre(Ballroom) where Alice Cooper and Iggy were in a pissing match. Neither would go on stage before 10 PM. Alice Cooper was headlining but Iggy thought the Stooges were the main attraction.

8. So?
Who eventually headlined? I:)gy, of course?

References to MC5 have also proven popular in most parts. ;)

9. Alice Cooper was the headliner
Their second album, "Love it to Death" was released and getting a lot of airtime. I do believe that this was on Halloween night in 1970. It was at the Eastown theater.

As to the MC5,they were already established when The Stooges first LP came out. John Sinclair was their manager/promoter, until he got popped in TX for two joints. I've seen them perform several times. The 1st time was at the Grande Ballroom. That's were they recorded their live LP which had "Kick out the Jams" on it. I wasn't there for that one.

I was at the Grande when The Frost recorded their "Rock and Roll Music" LP. Dick Wagner was an underrated guitarist.

4. Try some of Jaco Pastorius' eponymous debut album.
I'm partial to "Come On, Come Over." That always loosens up my hands. Loads o' fun! ;)

6. I would humbly recommend listening to Bill Wyman
from about "19th Nervous Breakdown" on up, especially the "Some Girls" LP. Kenny Gradney with Little Feat is a good resource--and if you want to go outside the lines, dig on Jack Casady with Jefferson Airplane.

Of course, there's that McCartney fellow. But he stands alone. The BEST of luck to you from somebody who swore he was going to be as cool as George Harrison someday, but settled for learning to play guitar instead.

:hi:
