1. Get a GardenBurger, a fresh bun, fresh local lettuce, fresh local tomatoes, and something OTHER than
that GOD-awful "thousand island dressing" shit they put on Big Macs.

6. The low carb/high meat things like Atkins are all full of shit. Eat something healthy.
I've been vegetarian for coming on 22 years. Cheese is my worst enemy and when I worked on the road, grilled cheese was a standard because that's all I could find in most places. I jumped up to 170 over three years. Three years later, I'm back down to my normal weight of about 122. My wife weighed 95 when we got married. She's had three kids and still weighs just about 100. Our diet is high carb, moderate protein, high fiber, and moderate cheese intake (but mostly the good stuff like gorgonzola). Fad diets are about making money selling books about fad diets. Common sense should tell you they're full of shit.

7. I couldn't handle the first two weeks of South Beach.
I lost weight but the all protein and fat thing drove me nuts. I was craving carbs and never felt satisfied.

8. I gave up on dieting. I focus more on portion control and moderation, and I feel
a lot better than I did when I was counting every single calorie and going to bed hungry every night.
