1. Actually has been down here for past 2 weeks.
Our signals are butterflies,( mostly swallowtails) hummingbirds, spider lilies, and night time temps below 70.
It can still get up to 95 but not for very long, and the cool off in evening is really appreciated.
The sulfur butterflies appear in late Sept. ( orange ones, yellow ones), then we REALLY know it is fall.

3. Here: 2 pics, and a link.
if you google "sulphur butterflies" and click on "images" section of google, you can find tons of pictures.
Here is a good single page of the different kinds of butterflies, we have most of them here:
sulphurs are about 2/3 down the page

bunch of them, a normal sight here, they like to congregate on a patch of moist dirt:

5. the "cabbage white" that lays caterpillars in your broccoli is also a sulphur.
I have become fond of the "yellow" sulphurs because of the way they congregate on the ground and look like a patch of yellow and orange-ish wildflowers, they are a definite harbinger of fall down here.

6. Here too, but right on time
Actually turned on the furnace this morning. Pisspot kitteh who's always cold (8 lb. bag o' bones--no blubber for insulation) nearly wept with gratitude.
