1. I played Golde in a school production once. I still know all the songs by heart.

Love it, though I loved Zero Mostel better than Topol.

2. My mother played Hodel in a military production back in the 70's.

Funny thing: she was older than the woman playing Golda, her mother!

3. I was totally addicted to the original Broadway cast album...

...which featured, among other people, Zero Mostel, Julia Migenes, and Austin Pendleton.

I remember seeing a high school production too when I was maybe 16 years old. It totally carried me away, even if it was just a bunch of local kids pretending to be from the shtetl.

4. I was in a play once with Leonard Frey (Motel in the movie, Mendel in the original B'way cast...)

Leonard was a great guy and a wonderful actor. I was honored to call him my friend and I learned so much about the theatre from working with him.

Unfortunately he's gone now... man this is a sad night for me, missing my mother and long-absent friends.
