1. Helluva shot. Amazing how the body moves when you're young, huh?
Did she win?

3. Incredible photo, bluesbassman!
A lot of power behind that throw-in!

Thanks for posting!

4. Thanks Suich!
Throw-ins are one of her strengths. She can routinely hit the middle of the goal box, almost like a corner kick. :)

5. As a former "long thrower",
I can say her technique is excellent. Seeing that photo, it doesn't surprise me she can ping it into the middle of the box.

Some long throwers tend to overuse the long throw. I found that everyone would retreat into the box, leaving lots of room on the wing. If you can get (say) a player to make a dash towards you, they can knock it into space for you and the long throw quickly becomes a close-in cross. This also forces the defence to try to re-deploy, something defenders don't like.

Oh, and the photo's not bad either. Good work allround.

6. Thanks, and good point Tony.
The long throw usually catches the opponents off guard the first couple of times she does it, but after that they do start bunching up and lots of spce gets created in the wing.

Thanks for the tip!

8. The important thing to for her and the team to remember is
that she CAN throw long, not that she HAS too. Sometimes the threat is worth more than the throw itself. It puts the defenders into a situation where other opportunities open up.

Example: if you can throw long, you can throw fast and flat. I used to get my forwards to leave as much space open on my side as possible by going to the back post. Then I'd have a midfielder or defender arrive late into the near corner of the penalty box, where, if all has went well, he would have a good chance of getting onto a flat, fast throw and then get a shot or a very close-in cross or pass. Of course, the defence will catch onto it and put a defender in the right place, but if you then go for a long throw, (s)he becomes fairly irrelevant and wasted in that position.

12. Thanks. Say what you will about organized sports,
but at the junior and senior high level they definitely provide an excellent source of focus and self esteem building for girls.
