So where does the Red Brick Road go?

Question of the day: Where does the Red Brick Road in Wizard of Oz go? Here is the answer from Askville:

In the original series of Oz books written by L. Frank Baum the red brick road goes to the Quadling Country in Oz. Red is the Quadlings' state color.

In his books, the Land of Oz was divided into four quadrants and each was designated a particular color: Winkie Country = Yellow, Gillikin Country = Purple, Munchkin Country = Blue, and Quadling Country = Red. Glinda the Good was the ruler of the Quadlings in L. Frank Baum's Oz series. As her bubble floats away from Munchkinland in the 1939 film, it appears to be following the red brick road. Therefore, the red brick road most likely leads back to her homeland, Quadling Country.

They could change from one book to the next. Then again, there was no red brick road in the books. There were, however, at least two yellow brick roads.

7. I grew up LOVING the series of Oz books as did MiddleFingerMom in HER childhood.

I had the great pleasure of reading some of them to her in her last
stages of Alzheimer's (when she had pretty much reverted to her
childhood). Both of us with GIANT smiles on our faces as we dove
back into that world wholeheartedly.

When I was growing up, we had hardbound copies from around
1918 and some from around 1937. The latter books had fantastic
color plate illustrations, but the earlier ones had MUCH better
pen-and-ink illustrations (I bet the Nome King from those STILL
has the power to give me nightmares - below is a book cover
from 1927 -- not even CLOSE to the terrifying effects of that
fat li'l hairball with stubby arms and legs marching on Oz).

The Nome King, BTW, got "around the Deadly and/or Impassable
Deserts by tunneling UNDER them.

series to children of any age.
