Did anyone else see 7 Days in May ont TCM last night?

I hadn't seen it in a long time and was reaaly impressed with the acting and - of course- the story.

1. Wonderful film.

John Frankenheimer's direction gave it a documentary look.

Some trivia that I have read about it claims that Kirk Douglas was originally signed to play the deranged General and Burt Lancaster his subordinate "Jiggs". I think it's a better film the way they did it.

Also the blackmail is supposedly based on Gen. Douglas MacArthur's dropping a libel suit against columnist Drew Pearson when he learned that they would call MacArthur's mistress as a witness.
