oops - let the cat in while he was carrying a live chipmunk
He's usually pretty good about leaving his prizes outside on the front steps... so, I got lazy when I opened the door & let him in this morning.

and, of course, he was carrying a live chipmunk. Luckily, I managed to chase him from the hallway into the dining room and living room and then back out the front door.

I'm guessing the excitement lasted for about 15 seconds.

1. I left the back door open once and found a stunned garder snake under the dining room table.
Boy was the cat ticked off when I took her "toy" away.

2. My guys have a cat door
I'm kept busy rescuing snakes, chipmunks (did you know those little suckers can JUMP?), bats and the occasional mouse that survives. Most rodents meet their doom on my bathroom floor—easy clean up (or behind my computer equipment— harder to clean up).

3. Not to get you up in arms, but Norcal is having a problem with
rabid bats.

Don't touch those suckers. Use a stick. Or live in SoCal.

5. We leave the bilco door to the basement open
We put a 8x8 square hole in the floor in the front hall (hidden under a chair) with a ramp up from the basement for them.

Our rescue kitty Johnny F. Kelly in his overwhelming gratitude brings in something--mouse, mole, chipmunk, rabbit, flying squirrel. . . -- at least once a day or night.

In this house the last place his prey sees in this house is the "Red Room".

He's like Dexter that way.
