7. First time I saw one around here I thought it was two foxes

one running just behind the other one. When it ran under the light of a street lamp I discovered that "second fox" was just one fox's tail.

They've gotten much more prevalent around here more recently. Used to be I'd see one once in awhile but in the last couple of months it seems weird if I don't see one when out with the dog on our late night walks. The dog seems disappointed by that, too.

The play gets more intense with hopping nearer the end.Check the other videos she's posted. One was at a demonstration calling for Bush, etc. to be impeached and then some.

6. But notice that they don't actually bounce back

the high jump is when they spring off the surface but they don't spring when they come back down.

It looks more to me like they both noticed a bug or something on that spot and went to investigate and pounced like when they hunt prey.

But it was cute.

8. You don't have to bounce back on a trampoline.

It's most natural not to. The instinct of a fox or cat is not to bounce back, but to hold in place. Leg tendons themselves are very springy and you don't want to be falling off of the things you jump onto, so you use your muscles as shock absorbers.

I think the bouncing fox knows for certain something very unusual is happening -- that his jumps are springier than normal -- and he's definitely playing with it.

10. But what do you make of that moment when they both look

simultaneously at that particular spot behind them. Almost like they heard a noise or something. Or saw a bug jump up or something? :shrug:
