Could you go to this site and listen to the High Frequency humming sample and tell me if you can hear it.

I'm trying to figure out what one of these sounds I hear. That one for me is complete silent so I'm wonder if it is matching what I hear as to why I can't hear it on my speakers.

My tinitus sounds or feels like my heartbeat with the buzzing.

1. I have tinnitus also, but I could not hear the High Frequency humming or buzzing samples.

I could hear the others, but none of them match what I usually hear. What I usually hear are clicking sounds or low frequency buzzing.

8. That sample seems to be in the 12.5 kHz range or above.

The older you are the less you can hear higher frequencies.

I'm 49, have mild tinnitus, and I can't hear anything above 14 kHz.

High school kids use high-frequency tones as ringtones because the teachers can't hear them.

They would be screwed if I were their teacher, however. Because I can hear that one.

What I pick up on is the change in the carrier frequency. That doesn't mean I can hear every tone, just that I can tell one has started or stopped. The ringing is so bad sometimes that I can barely hear anything else. Best they've been able to guess, it is either mild Meniere's or an inner ear virus. When it is REALLY bad, I have vertigo so nasty that I can't walk without holding on to something.

You can't rely on a web-based test. The machine itself is creating more tones, harmonics, and buzzing sounds than anything, but the speakers usually have a base-line buzz. You're being bathed in ambient noises as it is.

15. I just download

a podcast that has nature sounds. It's nice to block the sound out with out music or talking. It's working for now. Birds chirping and insects buzzing does mask the sound. I've been reading that people that have tinnitus need more GABA. Not quite sure what that was, but they say that doing relaxing yoga, etc. Elevates the levels bringing down the buzzing.

20. I think that

not hearing the HF is normal for some over 25 according to the other link. I thought that my tinnitus was matching the sound and canceling it out. It's just we can't hear it anyway. I think that mind is the HF buzzing, just not as loud and a different tone. Not on the sharp sound.
