Rent check - landlord - completely ticked - 1st said it did not clear - no apology
and wanted me to write another check - I could tell it never made it to my bank and said his bank could put it back through
He argue with me said that was impossible

He also had a mail delivery problem
So it was toward the end of the month

I wrote another check since I was sure his bank messed up
He said I could put a stop payment on the first one - that would have cost me money
Figure his bank screwed it up - it was lost in their system

so both checks cleared my bank on Friday
Yes now it can be Nov and Dec Rent

But no apology
I am so pissed

He acts like a tyrant and forceful

then acts like nothing is wrong

I want to write back and say WHAT NO APOLOGY?

But I think I better find somewhere else to live first

He doesn't fix things unless they are absolute
Dishwasher only runs cold water - no hot hooked up and he acts surprised when it is brought up and he knew it a long time ago
Garbage disposable doesn't work

He acts like a drunk on a rampage when he gets angry and I am unwilling to be the brunt of that anymore

I hate how he treated me when it was his bank that messed up

glad his bank straightened it out but he doesn't even acknowledge or that he could have messed up my checking account or apology

1. I caught my landlord putting quarters in the washing machine today
he was putting them there so the next person would get a free load. I asked him how often he does that and he said whenever he empties the machine. He also brought Christmas-themed doormats for everyone. :-)

2.  I lived in a red area and put up with stuff like that and was i glad to get into a bigger building.
It's eating my lunch but at least there is respect and they want to maintain the place to keep good renters who pay their rent on time and don't damage the place, etc..

Don't expect anything from that guy, he feels entitled to do as he pleases, and it sounds like he doesn't care about your health, either.

This is tough time of year to find another place to live. I think you should start checking out places and move in the late spring and early summer. I hope things will work for you until then.

4. I have been looking online and in the neighborhood for six months and
have not seen anything

unless I am willing to pay another 200 or 300 a month

Any time of year is tough to move

I guess since he suckered me out of December rent already - it is at least one more month

I am unhappy with the situation and knew when I moved in two years ago it was temporary - but now it is going on too long

I want to get my stuff out of storage and stop having to pay that

5. When you write a second check, CANCEL THE FIRST AT THE BANK!!! even if it costs you a little.
If it wasn't your landlord, you wouldn't necessarily get anything at all for that second check.

6. Yeah, he sounds like a jerk. Are you renting from an individual? IME, it is much better to rent

through property managers, than someone who owns the house/apt. IME, landlords
who rent their own property don't want to fix anything, and if something breaks down,
even if it was prehistoric, they act like YOU'RE the one who broke it.

7. The last month you're going to be there, send one check a day for 30 days
with 1/30th of the rent in each check. Even on Sunday. That should keep him busy. Write them all out in advance and get the envelopes ready. Put each in the mailbox on its designated day, even if the previous one didn't get picked up because it was a Sunday or holiday. If he complains, just point out that you're paying those parts of the rent early because you're such a wonderful person.
