I had too many heart attacks to count. WVU won the game with a field goal, with 3 seconds remaining on the clock.

Now if Cincinnati beats UConn on Saturday, the Mountaineers will get to play in the BCS bowl game that automatically goes to the Big East champ. Go Bearcats!

2. The game went back and forth.
There were three times at least in the fourth quarter when I was sure the Mountaineers were doomed. But they got a couple of big breaks late in the game and found a way to fight back and win with a field goal with 3 seconds remaining on the clock.

How about that last game against Pitt? We held the Panthers scoreless in the fourth quarter while scoring 7 ourselves to end up winning by one single point, 21 to 20.

The game before that was against Cincinnati. We blocked a short Bearcats field goal attempt during the fading seconds to win that one 24 to 21. That was the first time a Mountaineer player had blocked a field goal since 2004!

I have to go now to check on the couch I've got burning outside. I think it's a little close to the porch and I don't want to burn my house down.

4. Doesn't matter. An SEC team WILL be the National Champion.

5. Everybody wants to be the national champ but there are other victories.

There's 8 teams in our league and every single one of them would like to be the Big East champ. Close but no cigar, Louisville. WVU will be the Big East champ after the Cincy Bearcats knock off UConn at noon today.

Every team in every league would love to play in a BCS bowl game, but only 10 teams will get to. All of those 10 teams will want to win their bowl games but only 5 of them will come out on top. These things matter a lot to us mere mortals.

But you're right about one thing, the national champ will be either LSU or Alabama - both in the SEC. My money's on LSU.
