So how about them Santa Ana winds?
Welcome to our House Of Sad! The worst is the Honda we had for five days. So just a really sub-optimal week.

1. Yikes!
When you originally posted about the pepper tree coming down on your daughter's new car, I hadn't heard a word about the horrendous winds you've had. Since then, I've seen some video of the extensive damage, but there hasn't been a lot of coverage. I freak out when it gusts at 30-40mph at my house...can't imagine what it was like for you!

Glad everyone is safe!

How long did the winds last?

2. Freak winds
They kicked up around sundown and died off in the around midnight. This happened at 11 pm. It was so, so sad. My daughter just got home from work at 10:45 and she was making tea in the kitchen. We heard a crash - our driveway is pretty setback from the house so couldn't tell where it was coming from. She was like, OMG WHAT IF A BRANCH FELL AND SCRATCHED MY CAR? LOL...scratched. I said "I'll go check" and when I went out there I was like...WHAT??? Then I was just standing in the driveway for five minutes because I didn't want to go in and tell her...the branch went from the moonroof to the driver's seat, what a scary sight. Anybody sitting there would have been crushed by the force.

3. Well the Earth didn't....
...split open and reduce half of Los Angeles County to flames and ruins so it's pretty much a national non-event. Plus it pales to the coming Rapture ;-)

5. Yep!!
Really when I think my daughter was in that car just a few minutes before it happened -- it's like winning the Lotto.
