Mindy McCready's son found in Arkansas
Country music singer Mindy McCready was hiding in the closet with her son when authorities took the 5-year-old boy into custody in Arkansas, officials said early Saturday.

Authorities found Zander McCready and his mother in a home in Heber Springs, Arkansas, according to David Rahbany, the chief deputy U.S. Marshal in eastern Arkansas.

"The child appeared to be in good condition when we found him ... he was in the closet with his mother," Rahbany said.

Local sheriffs and marshals had placed the home -- believed to belong to the singer's boyfriend -- under surveillance for hours before they found the boy late Friday, he said.

The boy is in the custody of the Arkansas Division of Children and Family Services, who will make arrangements to take him to his legal guardian in Florida, his maternal grandmother.

And to reflect the mentality of McCready fans (I believe they were most likely to read/vote on comments) the most liked comment was "she is not charged with a crime but if she were a MAN she would be charged with kidnapping across states lines, child endangerment, and amber alerts and various other high power accusations.. Definitely does not pay to be a white male in America...." Yep, now it's cool for white men to whine persecution huh?

1. But it is true
if she were a man, she'd have been arrested on those charges. Being "white" has nothing to do with it, however.

2. So why the double standard? Should I be a conservative now?
I don't want to, but she didn't have legal custody, so was it a crime what she did? And I read about her on Wikipedia and she has a history of drug addiction and crime.

3. Yes it is
And by taking him out of state, she got the feds involved. But, she's a woman & probably more influential, a celebrity who has some money, so she's not going to get popped.

I know in Texas, she'd be facing "interference with child custody" charges. Locally, the cops are getting tired of the games custodial parents (mostly the moms) play when it comes time for the kids to visit the other parent (the dads), so they've gotten the DA to adopt a new policy: if custodial parent plays games 3 times & non-custodial parent involves the police & has a report made, custodial parent is asked to come to the DA's office & have the Riot Act read to them (basically, start following the court order, dammit). If after that, custodial parent continues to play games, an arrest warrant is issued & charges of interference with child custody are brought.

Take it from me: attorneys & law enforcement have had it up to here with the BULL SHIT immature parents play when it comes to visitation & child support.

4. So now I think it's a more 'if you're rich, you get away with crime' situation
instead of gender.

5. Both of those are in play in this situation
but usually in cases where one parent absconds with the child, if it is the father, he's taken away in handcuffs.

6. Becuase of sexist stereotypes. Ironically those who advocate the "fierce man"
stereotype (y'know the men's rights types) suddenly scowl when confronted with their own medicine: how the law is applied in absconding parents cases. So apply the law based on evidence in cases.
