I remember resisting getting a cell phone so much (waited till 2005)

but blogging and tweeting and editing Wikipedia while on the lavatory or while driving or during a social gathering does sound appealing.


I can't wait for scalp implants that will allow me to play angry birds and check email in my dreams (BTW , is angry birds available for Androids ? )

1. I can think of only two or three times a year I wish I had a computer in my hand

Eventually you'll be able to pick one up for twenty bucks. I have a $20 phone which retailed at $679 a few years ago.

4. Call me a freak but

I still don't have a cell phone. My lifestyle doesn't call for one, so I resist the temptation. The "but everyone has one" isn't a good enough reason to spend my limited funds on what would be, for me, a toy.

Uh, well, so am I. There are at least two of us in the world, so....everyone does not have one....yet. I am constantly harassed by friends who say they can't get in touch with me. Really? I do have a phone, and an answering machine. What's the deal with being able to reach me while I am grocery shopping? I like being out of touch sometimes.

10. Freak also.

I had one for a couple of years because my work made me carry one that they supplied. That phone was turned on when I got to work and turned of when I left.

Other than that, I have no plan to allow people to bother me while I am out and about. I have a home phone and an answering machine.

5. I didn't get a cell phone until 2008

switched to AT&T in 2009, my contract just ended and AT&T gave me an iPhone 3Gs free with a new contract. I had to add a data plan and my bill went up $25. I really like it so far.

6. I never did get a cell...my daughter added one to her plan

and then gave me one...forced it on me, so to speak. I couldn't afford it so it was never an option. She was worried
about me because my cars have always been barely moving junk ready to break down. I told her well I've survived most of
my life like this on the kindness of strangers and on my car insurance break-down policy.

Now that I have one, what I value most is the ability to keep up with my far-flung family. As soon as something is happening,I know it, without needing a network of phone calls to be made.

I also find I use the internet on it a lot: while reading a book (usually history), I look up additional information or
new vocabulary I run across. While watching the news or even tv shows, I end up looking up more info. It's small and convenient, I get better informed, and don't have to go to another room to use the computer.

7. Try not to get stuck on a contract plan

I am going to get rid of my iPhone once my plan runs out in March 2012. I've had an iPhone, I guess for almost 4 years. I think I've spent way too much money on something that I hardly use.

I'm going with a pay as you go next - something I can ditch when I feel like it. No telling when a no technology mood might strike!

9. I have had pay-as-you-go phones.

The only problem is if you do not use the momthly minutes, you lose them. I finally got GreatCall. It is only $14.95 a month and the phone is only $99. I do not use a cell phone that much as I am home all day and use my land line, but I take the cell phone with me in the car should I break down so that I can call AAA.
