Have any of you ever hung up when a voice mail answer

goes on way too long and attempts to be funny? I had one the other day that went on about the guy's wife and her dislikes before there was any prompting to leave a message after the beep. I wonder if this has gotten worse lately.

I also dislike it if they try to work in some religious or political bit since you can guess where people like that will be coming from.

and I listened more than I usually would. But it got to be too much.

He never left a message that he had called. Something about not talking to "some gawd-dam machine".

Haven't heard from him in about 7 years, now. Don't have his current number, and I suppose somebody would have left a message if he had died.

"Yeah, it wasn't anything important. I was just trying to find an address for Jane. I called Betty and she had it."
"Why didn't you leave a message?"
"Well, like I said IT WASN'T ANYTHING IMPORTANT, and I got the address from Betty."
"Oh. OK."

10. It is rather aggravating.

Cute doesn't mix with phone calls, many of which are quite serious or businesslike.

12. I've abandoned phone etiquette when it comes to commercial calls.

No one has any absolute right to contact me by phone. On the very rare occasion I pick up the phone, if it is an unsolicited, unwanted call, I just hang the thing up, and disconnect it for a while.

and hang up right away or else make up something off the wall and then hang up.

14. Yes, I don't even have a voice mail message, it's just the beep.

I assume people who call my number know who I am and can figure out I can't answer the phone at that time. I very rarely get messages by missdialed numbers.

I would toss the landline phone out the window.
