3. Having worked in several libraries in my time,

you wouldn't believe the crap that librarians and library employees have to put up with.

In one library at a major university, the bottom floor, with volumes and volumes of bound
periodicals and no windows, was a favorite place for people to...um....
trist with a partner, or take care of themselves.

When we would go through with book carts, we would make sure to make lots of cart, foot travel noise...
or rattle the storage room/elevator keys.... because if you didn't you might accidentally find
something without wanting to. Making noise seemed to warn them they were not alone.

I never had to clean up any messes, but I had heard of them.
Let me just put it this way.
I don't like cloth covered library chairs.

I never thought of it in this context, but there is something about the phrase "cloth covered public chairs" that makes me think "I'll sit somewhere else." They look comfy, and then I see the people routinely sitting in them, and it's a deal-breaker.
