21 Greenpeace protesters plead guilty (AK)
Associated Press

KETCHIKAN, Alaska - Twenty-one Greenpeace protesters, many of whom chained themselves to logging equipment for several days, have pleaded guilty for taking part in the demonstration.

The defendants from around the country were not present during hearings Monday in U.S. District Court in Ketchikan, but participated by telephone in groups of seven.

Each pleaded guilty to obstructing or helping to obstruct a road and was given the choice of spending the business hours of a day in a holding cell or paying a $300 fine and serving two years probation. All chose the jail time. <snip>

1. The guiltiest Green Peace activists are among the most innocent folks
on earth.

Long Live Green Peace.

3. I agree that it's a serious fight.
I was trying to post in favor of the fight and to endorse Green Peace.

4. I admire their gumption and willingness
to submit to arrest and jail rather than back down on their principles. I wish there were more people like that, especially more that would be willing to demonstrate at such a level against war for profit.

5. Absolutely. What they do and how they do it is past bravery, really.
The Rainbow Warrior -- the ship -- wasn't that a Greenpeace vessel?

That the French government blew up?

I donate to Greenpeace and Amnesty because those groups are the true hearts and minds of the planet.

FtWayneBlue, I loved your post.

7. The embarrassment is mine, struggle4progress.
I tried to post in favor of an organization I respect and flat out didn't do a very good job.

It would embarrass me if you thought I didn't take seriously what you had posted, and for the record, your post was clear and concise with a good heart pumping behind it.

My apologies.

:hi:
