Proposed direct action against Wal-Mart: An EMPLOY-COTT
How about staging a series of "direct actions" where someone runs perpendicular to the check-out lines at Wal-Mart quickly passing fliers and COSTCO job applications to the cashiers at Wal-Mart?

Just a quick jog (or brisk walk) starting at the far register and quickly proceeding to the door as you drop your information at each check-out clerk along the way.

And maybe also surreptitiously leaving the information tucked away at the backs of merchandise shelves?

1. Why hide info in the backs of shelves
when you can slip it in the pockets of clothes on the racks?

2. That's very good, too. But my target audience was the EMPLOYEES...
not the customers.

But that would be good for other direct actions, too.

What I wanted was to put the information where Wal-Mart employees would find it and say to themselves, "Why the fuck don't I go work at COSTCO?"

3. Ah, got it.
I knew you were handing it out to the cashiers, but I forgot about the stock people.

4. I do like the idea of putting stuff marked "security device enclosed"
... and placing them inside larger items so that random people keep setting off the security alarm.

You'd have to enclose an anti wal-mart flier with it to keep innocent people from being arrested for shoplifting.

Eventually, the employees will have to search inside every single dufflebag, purse, jacket, etc. that they sell to see if someone might have hidden a DVD or similar small item inside it on the shelf.

But it's also fun just to take the "Doctor Laura" books and re-shelve them with certain "feminine hygiene" products.
