Separating the Chickens from the Hawks...
A while ago I posted a suggestion that whenever anyone hears of any kind of Republican rally where there are sure to be numbers of pro-war zealots 'with better things to do', we should make an attempt to contact the local A/N/AF/M Recruiters nearest the event.

Then we should inform those recruiters of the warm market opportunity presented by the throngs of enthusiastic young Republicans who can't wait to show off their high level of patriotism by stepping up and putting themselves on the line to fight for their country...

Yeah Right.

Here's the OP;

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=3953724

Nonetheless, I am happy to say I've found two events that I was able to send recruiters to since then. Unfortunately I did not follow up and find out how the recruiters did or even if they went. But considering they were events attended by only a few dozen people, I didn't expect much.

BUT THIS:

http://www.yaf.org/conferences/college/conference.asp

I would not be suprised if recruiters are already on to this as a major opportunity to boost their numbers... but why make assumptions?

I am having trouble tracking down the phone numbers and E-mails to local DC recruiters and would love it if someone could help find them and post in this thread. Either that or direct me to a post where this has been addressed. (I'm notoriously bad a 'Googling' when it comes to contacts)

Then, I would suggest that at least a few other people, possibly posing as exuberant young Republicans, give a call to those same local recruiters and talk about how excited they are about the convention and how they and their friends will be looking for the (pick a branch) recruiting booth.

It would be even more exciting to have a few DU'ers go out and assist recruiters in browbeating the young ChickenHawks into serving their country. (Make no mistake... that's a time-honored recruiting tactic)

If I had the travel cash, I'd definitely go myself just to document the level of true cowardice.

So... can anyone help find those numbers?
