The flow became a trickle and now appears to have stopped.

I thought it was a major success when we hit 30 published letters and was shocked when we hit 50, but the hits kept coming.

It looks like 63 is likely to hold as our final number.

Here is a still of the map:

4. It's not easy to get published. People will write their papers for
years without being published. A six percent hit rate (we haven't heard how many did participate so it's probably a higher success ratio), when everyone is competing with dozens or hundreds of other submissions, is a big deal.

5. Wait! I had one.
Rocky Mountain News, July 20.

Bush should fire Rove

The president assured us several times that Karl Rove never discussed CIA operative Valerie Plame with anyone in the media. But it's been revealed that these denials were, in fact, false. Rove was a major player in the outing of Plame as an undercover CIA agent.

George W. Bush promised to fire anyone involved in the Plame affair. Bush should stick to his promise and fire Rove. In addition, Bush should own up to his denials regarding Rove's involvement in the Plame affair. Did he truly not know that Rove had performed this act? That's bad enough. But if Bush did know, and blatantly lied to cover up this fact, then Bush has some more explaining to do on his own.

15. Here's One For The Counting Judges!
If the same letter gets published in two papers, does it count as two or one?

I submitted to three local papers.
My published submission to "The Buffalo News"
has already been counted.

It appears I was published in the ArtVoice as well. http://www.artvoice.com/archive/v4n30/v4n30.pdf (*warning* large PDF)

I like it better because they printed an unedited version.
It's just an art paper, but very popular in my "One Newspaper Town"

So what do you think? Do we count it as a half?
