This is an annual event in Columbus GA at Fort Benning.

We are planning on having a bus from Savannah this year.

1. they sent 238 or so troopers from Central America to Iraq

It was in DU a few weeks back. El Salvador, Honduras, and several other Central American countries sent troopers to Iraq. I wonder if we could politicize this fact somehow.

2. Bus Info

The Colum-Bus will leave from the Unitarian Universalist (UU) Saturday AM November 22.

The price will be $50 round trip for the bus, and we are working on fitting at least some of your food into that price. (For further info times/address/contact #s send a request to my inbox)

We will arrive in time for the rally to be held at the gates of Ft Benning from 11Am to 5pm.

Last year over 9,000 people participated. This years protest is likely to be larger as Father Roy Bourgeios (SOA Watch Founder) has been on a speaking tour to churches and groups across the US which has raised awareness of this "Terrorist Training Camp."

He's a great one by the way. We got to meet him when he was at our church.

You know the kind of person that has done incredible, wonderful, momentous things but has no inflated ego to go with it? The kind of person that you know has to have a packed, busy schedule...but still takes the time to listen to everyone face to face and make every person feel heard and important? Even if that person is a shy, stammering 12 year old?

Father Roy is one of those kind of people! Father Roy rocks! :bounce:

We are still working on lodging for Sat. night. Stay tuned for that.

The adventurous can bring a sleeping bag and "wing it" - as always.

This event is capped with a funeral procession and you are encouraged to bring a symbol of your faith or an image of something held sacred by you to lay at the gates of Ft. Benning.


Note!
This is a very organized, deliberately non-violent event.

You will not be arrested unless you participate in a very specific action which involves trespassing.

There is no danger of arrest for merely attending this vigil.

e-mailed me that they have 2 apartments right on the protest route (YEAH, THEY
HAVE BATHROOMS AND ARE A GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO PORTA-JONNIES). These apartments
have no furniture but */_do_/* have lots of carpeted floor space to crash on,
and I assume it will be on a first-come, first served basis.
